Daana Blue- Youth Mindfulness Mentorship

With 4 year of experience raising awareness of the health of our oceans and serving our Venice community and environment, Daana Blue, a grassroots organization is now growing and is a 501c3.  We offer quarterly, FREE beach cleanup events where we give yoga and surf lessons for our participants, educate on ocean conservation, and also have a kids zone with micro-plastic art workshops and kids yoga.  We partner with environmentally conscious companies to help steer people into making conscious choices with their buying power, to date we have partnered with over 100 brands. We educate people on being more aware of their day to day activities to live more sustainably. Typically we get about 75-130 people per event and are expanding our reach to the Orange County in 2019. We have also done workshops in both private and public schools.

This year we are starting our programming, Ocean Friends, supporting the undeserved youth of LA.  Over 90% of LA Unified School District is at or below the poverty level.  Many of these kids have never seen the beach or ocean.  We will be offering ongoing support for these kids with mindfulness practices, yoga, meditation, surfing, and ocean conservation education.  We will also be empowering them with a strong sense of community, leadership skills and supporting them into turning their ideas for giving back and sustainability into reality.

Until about 8 months ago our CEO and Founder Mary Haberski had been doing everything on the back end is now in need of a lot more help to keep up with our expansion. In the past we have received very small donations at our events, and all of the financials have come out of pocket. This has been a passion project but in order to keep growing and build a team to make this programming happen we need your support!
