Bringing visibility to Arts and Abolition Movement

Dear friends,

The time has come ~ this project marks the first step towards fulfilling a lifelong affinity for humanitarian work. As a documentary photographer and founder of bekindforreal.org, delving deep into humanitarian work will serve as corollary to the philanthropic efforts I have launched through BKFR on September 11, 2014.
Please help support a photo-documentary project I will be running in Kenya in February. This is a unique opportunity to bring visibility to Arts and Abolition Movement.
My visual projects (danielagroza.com) explore issues of identity, belonging, connectivity, power and freedom. This will be the first humanitarian endeavor I'm embarking on, as I am heavily committed to making our world a better place. The goal is to photograph the day to day activities of Art and Abolition for the purposes of using the photographs for an upcoming fundraiser this summer. With your help, together, we can bring visibility to social injustice, so we can eradicate it altogether.

Art and Abolition Movement is a solidarity movement fueled by love, and the understanding that “until we are all free, none of us is free” as Harriet Tubman said. They are giving their hearts, their means, their talents and their lives to do their part in bringing the number of children in Kenya trapped in lives of sex slavery down to zero. Art and Abolition specifically targets girls aged 15 and under who, because of poverty and/or pressure and threats of violence from their caregivers are being forced to sell their bodies for everyday necessities like food, water, and school fees.

Their current needs are:

1 shower curtain and rings
3 laptops (used very ok)
bed sheets and pillow cases any size any color
bras for teens and preteens (new or used)
film (kodak porta 120/160 speed)
folders/ small binders
dividers
printer and ink
gym shoes for teen and preteen girls
1 non-stick frying pan (used ok)
15 ponchos
15 pairs of basket ball shorts (or shorts that are loose fitting and cover the thighs) for teens and preteens

The amount raised will also cover transportation costs for me, film, developing and printing for the upcoming fundraiser in the summertime. And of course, absolutely any amount helps.

THANK YOU ALL for supporting, TOGETHER we are moving mountains <3
